How to properly dispose of face masks and why always prefer reusable cloth masks.

Face masks are being discarded everywhere and is becoming a health and environmental hazard. The best practice is to use reusable cloth masks that can be washed and avoid disposable masks as much as possible in order to allow more supply of this for medical personnel and to avoid contaminating more with their disposal.

1. Remove your mask from behind without touching the front of the mask

2. Never throw your mask on the floor. It is dangerous and it could be infected. It could also be taken away by animals, or by the wind and end up in the sea, river, or nature. Discard it immediately in a closed bin (not recyclable) Disposal face masks should not be reused and cannot be recycled. The best practice is to use reusable cloth masks that can be washed.
3. Wash your hands with soap (or rub them with alcohol-based sanitizer)
4. Remember: The best defense against COVID-19 is frequent hand washing, avoiding being around sick people, staying home/physical distancing, and avoiding touching your face, mouth, eyes, and nose with unwashed hands.
